Bill graduated from Brown University in 1978 and moved to Hong Kong in 1980 to begin a career in emerging markets. After working as a journalist he joined Schroder Securities in 1983 as a conglomerate and utilities analyst. In 1986, he relocated to Seoul for Vickers da Costa, to open one of the first foreign brokerage offices in Korea. He remained there until 1989, when he was recruited by Barings to broke North Asia stocks in London. In 1993 Barings sent him to New York to establish a New Emerging Markets Desk, covering such then-exotic countries as Russia, India and South Africa. Bill specialized in Emerging Europe and, still in New York, he went on to market that region's equities for Barings, Deutsche Bank and HSBC. He joined Dragon in March 2006 as Head of Research, and is now CIO for the Dragon Capital Group.
